2023 Illinois Credit Unions Awarded National Recognition

Naperville, Illinois (August 29, 2023) – Six Illinois credit unions were awarded national recognition by the
Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for their hard work and dedication to their members and
communities they serve.

The three awards categories honor credit unions for their amazing initiatives to spread financial literacy
(Desjardins), increase social responsibility by supporting their local communities (Dora Maxwell), and
demonstrate the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” through their actions (Louise Herring).

The Illinois Credit Union League (ICUL) congratulates the Illinois winners of these prestigious awards for their
service to members and their communities. “Congratulations to these deserving credit unions for being
recognized by CUNA with these awards,” said Tom Kane, ICUL President/CEO. “I’m always impressed with the
variety and quality of the initiatives submitted by Illinois credit unions and this year was no exception.”

The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award is given to a credit union or chapter for honorable involvement
in community projects and activities. In 2023 CUNA bestowed this great on honor on:

• 1st place: Land of Lincoln Credit Union – 2022 Community Investment Commitment – 250 MIL – 1 BIL
• 2nd place: Revity Credit Union – Don’t Stop Donatin’ Jeans Program – 250 MIL – 1 BIL
• 3rd place: 1st MidAmerica Credit Union – CU in the Community Videos Highlight Nonprofits – 250 MIL – 1

• 1st place: Scott Credit Union – Surprise Squad – More than 1 BIL
• 2nd place: Great Lakes Credit Union – GLCU Scholarship Program – More than 1 BIL
  

The Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Award is bestowed to credit unions that do an extraordinary job
incorporating the credit union philosophy into daily operations. In 2023 CUNA bestowed this great on honor
on:

• 1st place: Revity Credit Union – Volunteer Income Tax Program – 250 MIL – 1 BIL
• 2nd place: Earthmover Credit Union – Parties N Rec – 250 MIL – 1 BIL
• 1st place: Great Lakes Credit Union – Fee Eliminations/Reductions – More than 1 BIL
  

Finally, the Desjardins Adult and Youth Financial Education Award recognizes leadership within the credit
union movement on behalf of financial literacy for members and non-members of all ages. In 2023 CUNA
bestowed this great on honor on:

• 1st place: Revity Credit Union – (Financial FUNdamentals) Youth Category – 250 MIL – 1 BIL
• 2nd place: 1st MidAmerica Credit Union – (Reality Fairs Go Digital) – Youth Category – 250 MIL – 1 BIL

• 1st place: Great Lakes Credit Union – (Mad City Money) Youth category – More than 1 BIL
