Now accepting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
This week, we’re kicking off our fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Starting February 20th through March 17th, we will be selling MDA’s paper shamrocks at each of our branches* for the suggested donation of $1 to help send children with muscular dystrophy and related muscle-debilitating diseases to MDA Summer Camp.
MDA Summer Camp, also known as “the best week of the year,” is a place where barriers don’t exist. Swimming, arts and crafts, dancing, fishing, playing sports, making new friends, and learning independence are just a few of the wonderful opportunities camp provides for the kids at camp.
Here is one camper’s experience:
“MDA Summer Camp is truly the BEST week of the year! Every summer I look forward to a week of excitement, reconnecting with friends, new experiences, fun, and good old camp shenanigans. When we get to camp, we are matched with an awesome, one-on-one counselor who hangs out with us all week and helps us whenever necessary. Some of the activities I look forward to doing each year are: horseback riding, archery, motorcycle rides, swimming, squirt guns, hanging out with friends, cheers/chants and the dance at the end of the week. At camp, I am just like all the other campers because we all have a neuromuscular disease. I LOVE MDA SUMMER CAMP!!!”
– Summer Nagele, Age 12, living with Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome (CMS).
Here at Scott Credit Union, we also have a friendly competition going on between our north and south territory branches for who can raise the most money for MDA. The manager of the region that collects less money will be “pied” in the face!
*Excludes Millstadt branch.
