Now accepting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
This week, we’re kicking off our fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Starting March 1st through March 30th, we will be selling MDA’s paper shamrocks at each of our branches for the suggested donation of $1 to help kids and adults living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related diseases live longer and grow stronger. Through this program, we are helping MDA fund research to find treatments and cures, provide programs, care, and support to MDA families, and help fund MDA’s Summer Camp, also known as “the best week of the year.”
A note from the MDA Missouri Goodwill Ambassador:
“My name is Sophia Martino and I am a freshman at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I have a subtype of Muscular Dystrophy called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This disease, over the years, has rid me of the ability to walk and has required me to use a wheelchair full time. Because of my disease, I have been part of the MDA since I was 2 years old. With selling Shamrocks, I see and know firsthand how much you are doing for families with this disease. The money raised is so beneficial and needed for research, MDA Summer Camp, clinic, new medical drug findings, and equipment needs. Every dollar raised is a dollar needed and used! Your continued effort can help make huge strides in families’ lives.”
– Sophia Martino, living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Here at Scott Credit Union, we also have a friendly competition going on between our three markets for who can raise the most money for MDA. The manager of the region that collects the most money gets to pie the other two managers in the face!
